Development of Science and Technology (Science and Technology) as an integral part of national development is intended to be the cornerstone of national economic resilience and improve the welfare of the community in a sustainable manner. The development of science and technology in the fields of basic sciences, agriculture, medicine and related sciences are now so rapidly in response to changes and reforms continue in this era of globalization. Research and development needs to be done on all aspects of life to be able to address issues of human life that is increasingly complex.
Brawijaya University as a Research University and / or Interpreneur University of science and technology in development can not be separated from the demands of change. Thus the necessary innovation and creative ideas, improved facilities and quality of human resources, adequate laboratory in accordance with the development and demands of time that if it would be more useful and efficient.
Various research activities that are competitive are entrusted to the staff and researchers at UB increases, covering studies Competitive Grant, Grant Post, Rusnas, Fundamental Research Incentive Program: (a) Basic Research Incentive, (b) Applied Research Incentive , (c) Incentives Improvement and Utilization of Science and Technology Diffusion Production System, (d) Incentive Diffusion and utilization of science and technology, and (e) Incentive National Strategic Competitive Research, Agricultural Research, Research and Development, Risbin Iptekdok, and others. Direction of the research program mentioned above tend to be multidisciplinary so requires a good cooperation in order to resolve permasalaan completely.
The problem is that there are temporary facilities supporting research and laboratory facilities are not complete and separated in the various faculties and still not show optimal performance because often face administrative bureaucracy between the Faculty / Department / Laboratory which is sometimes still restrict collaborative interdisciplinary research activities. The central laboratory is already there in UB is Lab. Food central, central lab Biomedicine, and the Central Lab BiomolSel but management is not integrated and delivered in each faculty who manage it. On the other hand the fact that certain equipment maintenance is very expensive if managed by the laboratory at the Department or Faculty, as a result of the management tools that are not well ordered, making tools abandoned, unused or damaged because not properly maintained so that its use is not optimal.
Based on the above conditions, it is necessary to be made a Central Laboratory in charge of coordinating and accommodating laboratories management is centralized and integrated at the level of UB. On July 26, 2007 Central Laboratory of Biological Sciences UB (LSIH-UB) has been inaugurated by the Rector, the Vice Rector represented as one supporting PT Tri Dharma of UB.
The symbol of LSIH-UB has been designed by director LSIH a 4-UB red circle depicting various interdisciplinary science that will always spin and integrate with each other in the process of education, research and community service. Posts LSIH-UB in the middle illustrates that the role LSIH-UB is a research center in accommodating and facilitating the needs of Tri Dhama supporting universities, especially in UB.

Long-Term Program

  1. Developing an accredited Central Laboratory of national and international standards.
  2. Being one of the major laboratory centers in Indonesia.

Short-Term Program

  1. Facilitating the process of research and implementation activities for researchers both outside UB including research dalammaupun learners S1, S2 and S3.
  2. Providing services / services / facilities for researchers from outside UB.
  3. Developing science and technology from a variety of disciplines and related fields of life sciences, basic sciences and health
  4. Improving the ability of the scientific community empowerment through the development and solving using the scientific method.


Central Laboratory of Biological Sciences consists of one central office in Bldg LSIH UB lt 2, and 2 divisions which include:

  1. Division of Food Technology in Fl. 3 buildings LSIH-UB.
  2. Division of Molecular and Cellular Biology in Fl. 2 buildings LSIH-UB

Facility Other Facilities: meeting room, reading room, internet hot spot.

Facilities such as laboratory equipment catalog.
